Did you know that we offer rough in services that provide you with a solid foundation upon which to build out your van? That’s right! Below, we’ll take you through the what, why, how, and who of a rough in to help you decide if it’s the right option for you!
We’ll start with the “what”. A rough in is the beginning portion of a van build – the layer underneath the beautiful finishes. Think of it as the “bones” of a van build. A rough usually consists of framing and subfloor installation, sound deadening, vent fan and window installation, electrical panel and roughed in wiring. Our rough in’s can also be personalized with add-on’s like solar, AC, and heat.
Next let’s move on to the “why” – why choose a rough in over a full van build, or trying it yourself.
- Expertise: At Carolina Van Builders, we have been building vans since 2017 and put our years of technical expertise into every rough in. The skills we’ve acquired are not ones you can learn overnight and require practice and precision. For example, a window or vent fan installed even slightly improperly can lead to rust, water damage, mold, and a host of other issues. A Carolina Van Builder’s rough in will give you peace of mind that issues like this won’t ever arise.
- Time Savings: Our experience with roughing in gives us the ability to start and finish a project in a few days, verses the months it could take someone with little to no experience. Your time is valuable!
- Safety: Without a solid base, the building crumbles – don’t put yourself, your budget, your pets, or your loved ones in danger. It’s no secret that working with electrical or cutting holes in a brand new van can be dangerous. If installed improperly, an electrical system can cause serious safety issues and can even permanently damage your van.
“How” does the rough in process work? First, contact us to discuss what you would like to include in your rough in and we will provide a custom quote and a timeline for your project. At this time we only rough in new Promaster vans. Our rough in’s typically start at $11k for full framing, insulated subfloor, sound deadener, roughed in wiring, full electrical panel with Vicrton components, and a 200Amp/hr Battleborn lithium battery bank. From the time we receive your van until the time you get it back is usually less than two weeks. All rough in’s are completed here in our shop.
So “who” should outsource their van rough in? Hiring CVB to complete a rough in is the perfect option for a DIY’er who wants to get their hands dirty and customize their van to their exact specifications, but wants a safe and solid foundation to start with. Consider a rough in an expert-level portion of a van build that you can’t afford to get wrong, and installing the cabinets, flooring, painting, and other finishes as intermediary-level. Let us deal with the technical so you can bring in the beauty and comfort to your home on wheels.
